CHIRLA is an organization recognized by the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA) to provide immigration legal services. All legal staff and volunteers at CHIRLA are supervised by licensed attorneys, BIA-accredited representatives, Juris Doctors, and trained paralegals. CHIRLA Dream Center was created in response to President Obama's announcement regarding Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) in June 2012. Immediately after the announcement CHIRLA launched the "Seize the Dream" program which aims to assist eligible immigrant youth and community members in applying for Deferred Acton. The program provides DACA orientations to educate the community about the the requirements and procedures. Through this program we have provided assistance to thousands of immigrant youth apply for DACA.

CHIRLA also continues to assist eligible permanent residents apply for U.S. Citizenship and renew their permanent residency card. Through this program CHIRLA has assisted thousands of people become citizens and empower them with the right to vote.
